Product Description
VW's 1.8T engines are dual overhead cam, but the timing belt only drives the exhaust camshaft; at the other end of the cylinder head, a small timing chain off of the end of the exhaust cam to drive the intake cam.
If you're hearing a loud clattering noise from your 1.8T's head, odds are good the tensioner for this chain has collapsed or its plastic chain guides have disintegrated.
This handy little contraption from tool specialists CTA is essential during a cam chain tensioner service, allowing you to compress and remove the old tensioner.
